BIOGRAPHY

Really Rashida is a Cleveland based writer, blogger, and multi-media personality.

Rashida was born and raised on the city streets of Cleveland, Ohio. She inherited her love of books and music from her mother and knew from a very young age that writing would always be a special part of her life.

Rashida began her journey in entertainment at age nine when she joined a singing group called Bad Attitudes. The girls wrote and performed their own songs, which gave Rashida a chance to showcase her writing skills. That same year Rashida got involved with musical theater. She worked backstage and performed at the East Cleveland Theater in musicals that include Purlie, South Pacific, and Little Shop of Horrors. She continued to sing in choirs, write songs, and do plays throughout high school.

After graduating, Rashida decided to pursue music as a career so she enrolled in the Recording Arts & Technology program at Cuyahoga Community College. In 2005, Rashida got an internship with an independent label called 5ive Star Productions working under Joey Fingaz (of Livemixtapes.com) and production duo The Kickdrums (Machine Gun Kelly, 50 Cent). The following year she began an internship with the Ohio Hip Hop Awards that lasted for four years. During her time working with the OHHA Rashida got to see the entertainment industry up close and personal. After working in artist management, event planning & production, marketing, and promotions Rashida's love of writing still stood out. So when the OHHA asked for writers to contribute to their blog she signed up and has been writing for entertainment ever since.

In 2009, Rashida started her blog Her Urban Beauty where she writes about the latest in urban books, entertainment and women's culture. It was also then that she began writing her first full-length novel, Toxic, released in January 2013.

In addition to the OHHA and Her Urban Beauty blogs, Rashida has a blog where she releases short stories and other writings called RAW Characters. On her webshow, Rashida Reviews she gives book reviews and publishing industry news. Her podcast, Rashida Confidential, features interviews from artists, authors, and tastemakers on the Ohio entertainment scene.

Her knowledge of hip hop and urban culture landed her a spot as co-host of The Elite Radio show along side Ms. Cream of the Crop and Zima Luv of T.E.T. Entertainment. You can hear Rashida every Saturday from 2-4 p.m. on Hot101.net.

In the fall of 2013, Rashida will launch her lifestyle line, Trebelle & Basse. The line will debut with electronics cases and will grow to include clothing, beauty supplies, jewelry, stationary, and home & office decor.
